Palmanova

In the extreme southeast of the Palma Bay, in Mallorca, lies the town of Palmanova. It is one of the most consolidated and traditional options for family tourism on the island.

In Palmanova there are three big beaches, from north to south, they are: Es Carregador, Palmanova and Son Maties. All of them have calm and crystalline waters and golden sand. Portals Vells, El Mago and Playa del Rey

The beaches of Portals Vells are some of the most famous and visited in Mallorca. They are located south of Palmanova and are surrounded by thick native pine forests. Within the same cove there are three beaches: Portals Vells, El Mago and Playa del Rei. All of them can be reached from the same path, but by taking different forks. The beaches have white sand and crystal-clear water. They are a regular destination for boats moving around the bay and have a small port and jetty.

As a curiosity, between the beaches of Portals Vells and El Mago there is a small building that served as the setting for the film The Magus by Anthony Quinn and which gave its name to the beach. Furthermore, El Mago was the first nudist beach in Calvià.

Puerto Portals

Andratx

Located in a valley in the south-western part of the Sierra de Tramuntana, it is one of the main population centres in the area and has a long tradition.

The town centre concentrates many of the tourist attractions. The old possessió of Son Mas, the seat of the town council until 1998, is one of the most emblematic buildings in the area, but also the church of Santa Maria, erected in 1248 and where works of artistic heritage are preserved, and a walk through the Pantaleu district with its old mills.

Another point of interest is the Andratx market that takes place every Wednesday when the town becomes more alive and colourful. From Palmanova there are transfer services to and from the market.

Puerto de Andratx

In the southeast of the island, almost at the end that separates it from Ibiza, is the Port of Andratx. It is a small bay that houses a fishing port that grew a few years ago attracting thousands of visitors who decided to settle or have their house in Mallorca. It is surrounded by mountains in the foothills of the Sierra de Tramontana Mountains range which give it a spectacular landscape.

The Port has become a cosmopolitan and happy place, where cultures mix and shopping, sea, sun, and nightlife are combined, without forgetting its link with the sea offering a great number of marine activities. The promenade, between the Fish Market and the pier, concentrates most of the life of the Port with its terraces, bars and restaurants.
